IDAHOTIQZ and Arti et Amicitiae present a new initiative in honor of Queer & Pride: QUARTZ! A fusion of Queer Arts from dinner to party, about achieving emancipation within and with the LGBTQI+ community through dialogue and art. Those are languages we all speak and connect us, beyond the differences that sometimes divide us, but which we can also cherish. A fusion of dinner, party, exhibition, spoken word, talk show, live entertainment and visual arts. Serious and moving, kinship and festive moments alternate in a full evening program, in all the colors of the rainbow. And all this in the atmospheric setting of Arti et Amicitiae at the Rokin!

Art, identity, and inclusion take center stage in PRIDE exhibition by Quartz and IDAHOTIQZ
On Friday, July 4, 2025, a special PRIDE exhibition will be opened by councillor of Amsterdam Touria Meliani in the society of Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam. The exhibition is organized by Quartz!, under the banner of the IDAHOTIQZ Foundation. It brings together artists who celebrate the diversity of gender, identity, and expression — fully in line with the missions of Arti et Amicitiae, Quartz!, and IDAHOTIQZ.
The exhibition has been made possible in part by a grant from the Pride Fund, Arti, and the Rainbow Practice, and serves as a powerful artistic response to the question of how art can contribute to greater visibility, connection, and dialogue around queer identity.
A rich mix of disciplines and generations
The exhibition features work by a diverse group of artists:
- Photographers Mariet Sieffers and Stefan Middeke
- Digital artist Onno Visser
- Arjan Spannenburg with photographic textiles
- Collage artist Jeroen Fransen
- Multidisciplinary artist Régis Gonçalves
- Historical objects from Amsterdam’s history as a city of freedom
In addition, high school students from Keizer Karel College will present their alter egos on canvas — a unique educational project in which young creators explore and express queer identity.
A shared mission: space for free expression
The collaboration between Arti et Amicitiae, Quartz!, and IDAHOTIQZ stems from a shared vision: to create space for free artistic expression, to give visibility to the colors of the rainbow community, and foster reflection on how we live with and within that community.
Arti et Amicitiae, as a historic artists’ society, has long provided a platform for innovation in the arts. The Quartz evenings and exhibitions seamlessly align with this mission by offering queer artists and performers a safe and visible space.
The IDAHOTIQZ Foundation, born out of the annual celebration of the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexphobia, and Transphobia, uses art as a means to raise awareness, foster connection, and celebrate solidarity.
Opening
The festive opening will take place on Friday, July 4, 2025, in the society of Arti et Amicitiae, starting 17:30 by councillor of the city of Amsterdam Touria Meliani. Artists will be present. Media, invited guests, and interested visitors are warmly welcome.
25 juli Quartz!: the Pride edition
The exhibition will conclude on July 25 with a special edition of Quartz!: a fusion of Queer Arts from dinner to party, about achieving emancipation within and with the LGBTQI+ community through dialogue and art. Those are languages we all speak and connect us, beyond the differences that sometimes divide us, but which we can also cherish. A fusion of dinner, party, exhibition, spoken word, talk show, live entertainment and visual arts. This edition featuring performances by ballroom dance group House of Bodega. Serious and moving, kinship and festive moments alternate in a full evening program, in all the colors of the rainbow. And all this in the atmospheric setting of Arti et Amicitiae at the Rokin! Tickets available at www.idahotiqz.nl.
IDAHOTIQZ
On May 17, the day that homosexuality was delisted as a disease in 1990, IDAHOT, the International Day Against Homo and Transphobia, was born. IDAHOTIQZ’s mission is to artistically promote community spirit from and with the Queer community and to this end organizes events on IDAHOT, Pride and from now on also during the rest of the year.
Arti et Amicitiae
Located at a monumental building at the Rokin, Arti et Amicitiae has been an association for and by artists since 1839. Curiosity, friendship and connection are leading, with Arti being innovative in the development of a current, experimental and controversial exhibition program. The society is the meeting place for activities, exhibitions and parties.
Program
The evening starts with dinner and it will turn into a talk show in which art and its message are discussed with participating artists and activists from the LGBTQI+ community. Your hosts of the evening, Don and Pia, will take you into current affairs in conversation with their guests. About ten o’clock, various artists from the rainbow community will provide an interactive theater program full of music, dance and poems. We then toast together on how art can create fellowship in a time of polarization.
